Following the success of the Wilkinson Eyre (WE) ‘Exploring Boundaries’ exhibition held earlier this year in Hong Kong, we were delighted to work with them again, designing bespoke 3D images in crystal; but this time for their London Design Festival Event held last month in Clerkenwell, London. As specialists in crystal glass awards that are engraved, we love to get involved with specialist projects like this.
Our creative team were thrilled when they heard they’d been called on once again to recreate some more of WE’s iconic architectural designs in our beautiful laser engraved glass blocks. These new crystal art creations, or 3D models were for the London stint of their truly sensational ‘Inspiring Boundaries’ exhibition, which showcases a selection of their iconic architectural masterpieces.
This time the event was part of the London Design Festival; so a bit closer to home. Once again, the show was a resounding success and the team at WilkinsonEyre passed on some of the fabulous feedback they received at the show – as you can see Visitors were pretty taken with the crystal art installations on display.
We’ve hand picked some of the best comments from visitor’s attending the show:
‘We were surprised by the exhibition, you don’t expect something so impressive in this space’
‘The models are beautiful, they have an other worldly quality to them’
‘They look like they’re floating in mid-air, completely mesmerising to look at.’
‘I’ve never seen more beautiful architectural models, the lightness and precision and refinement is fantastic.’
‘A truly spectacular collection – I wish I could buy one!’
Here are some of the crystal blocks that showcase the intricacy and quality of our 3D laser engraving – an unrivalled quality that we are very proud of.

The 18 WilkinsonEyre Projects
Featuring 18 WilkinsonEyre projects – the selection of work included both completed and current projects, such as the restoration of the historic Battersea Power Station in London and One Barangaroo in Sydney, a luxury hotel and residential tower located on Sydney’s waterfront. Our creative team re-created each building in intricate 3D detail to capture the stunning detail of each building – to produce mind blowing 3D images each in a large crystal glass block. Our design team love to get stuck into these intricate designs, it keeps their work varied from engraving the more popular glass awards, for corporate events.
About the Exhibition
Set in the atmospheric House of Detention in Clerkenwell, ‘Exploring Boundaries’, portrays the architectural detail and form of the practice’s work, stunningly captured within intricately etched transparent glass blocks. This international exhibition, designed and curated by WilkinsonEyre, has travelled from its inaugural destination in Hong Kong to London.
The Concept of the Exhibition
‘WilkinsonEyre draw inspiration from both art and science. The pragmatic requirements of a brief are layered and woven together during the design process until a clear solution begins to emerge. WilkinsonEyre believe specificity is crucial to creating a beautiful solution. Each project begins with the exploration of its context and programme, going beyond the physical nature of a site and its environs. The narrative is driven by history, function, cultural contributions and our continual inventiveness.’
Situated in the House of Detention in Clerkenwell, the free, four-day exhibition was open to the public from Wednesday 19 September – Saturday 22 September, 10am – 6pm.
