We are very proud to work closely with The King’s Award for Voluntary Service to produce the crystal trophies awarded to outstanding volunteer-run organisations across the UK.
As well as the main crystal awards, we have worked with the King’s Award for Voluntary Service Office to create a unique limited edition commemorative souvenir. This is exclusively available to volunteers and committee members of organisations winning this prestigious award to give them something to take home and keep in honour of their contribution to the achievement.
What is The King’s Award for Voluntary Service?
The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the United Kingdom. It was established in 2002, originally to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, to recognise the exceptional contributions made by voluntary groups in their communities. Previously known as The Queen’s Award, His Majesty The King is continuing the accolade.
The award is considered equivalent in status to the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for individuals, and the winners are announced on the 14th November each year.
What Does The King’s Award for Voluntary Service Celebrate?
The award aims to celebrate the incredible work done by volunteer groups in various fields, including social care, environmental conservation, arts, sports, and more.
In particular, winners of the King’s Award are:
- Groups that are truly outstanding and making a big difference to their local community.
- Groups where volunteers, rather than paid staff, are in the driving seat.
- Groups that have the highest standards in everything they do.
Who is Eligible to Receive The King’s Award?
To be nominated for The King’s Award for Voluntary Service, a group must:
- be made up of at least 3 people
- be led by volunteers, not paid staff
- have been running for at least 3 years
- be based in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man
- provide a specific and direct benefit to their local communities
Read detailed guidance on the eligibility criteria here.
The majority of the group must be volunteers, and more than half the volunteers must have the right to live in the UK.
What Do The Winners of The King’s Award Receive?
As well as the prestigious accolade, winning groups receive a certificate signed by the King and a domed glass crystal to immortalise their achievement. Individuals from the awarded organisations can purchase their own King’s Award directly from our website.
How Are The King’s Award-Domed Crystal Trophies Made?
Just like all of our glass trophies and awards, The King’s Award is made from clear and flawless optical quality crystal which is 100% recyclable. Our precise 3D laser engraving techniques allow us to engrave the trophy’s crown design within the glass, making it appear as if suspended.
