  • Best Actor
  • Best Actress
  • Best Television Series

Winners of the 2023 awards included huge names such as Michelle Yeoh, Steven Spielberg, Cate Blanchett and Zendaya. The next Golden Globes will be presented on Sunday 10th January 2024, so get that date in your diary!

The GRAMMY Awards

The prestigious GRAMMY Awards pay homage to the classic gramophone in both their name and trophy. They’re held around the start of February every year, and many consider them the holy grail of awards in the music industry. The GRAMMY Awards recognise and celebrate musicians of every age and genre across the globe.

There are an incredible 86 categories in the GRAMMY Awards right now, including the ‘Big Four’ which span across all genres from rap and pop to jazz and rock:

  • Album of the Year

2023 saw the 65th ceremony of the awards, and winners included Lizzo, Adele, Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar.

The Academy Awards

This year, March will see more celebrations for the film industry in the form of the Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars. The first-ever ceremony took place back in 1929 – making it the oldest in the entertainment industry. The iconic awards draw the attention of the whole world as the best in the film industry are recognised for their artistic and technical merit.

The 23 categories of the Oscars have remained largely unchanged since the turn of the century, apart from the addition of the Best Animated Feature Film award in 2001, and the discontinuation of the Best Sound Editing award in 2019. Other categories include:

  • Best Picture
  • Best Director
  • Best Original Score
  • Best Costume Design
  • Best International Feature Film

Notable films awarded in 2022’s ceremony included Dune, Encanto, Cruella and Coda.

The Booker Prize

The Booker Prize is a highly respected literary award which is given annually to the best novel written in English and published in the UK or Ireland. The Booker Prize is so coveted that even inclusion in the shortlist or longlist is a huge achievement. The International Booker Prize, held in May, recognises literary works originally written in another language and translated into English.

Though the October ceremony usually consists of one main award, several special awards have been given over the years to celebrate various anniversaries of the prize. These special awards have included:

  • The Best of the Booker 2008, where the public voted between 6 shortlisted books

The most recent winners of the Booker Prize have included The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida by Shehan Karunatilaka, The Promise by Damon Galgut, and Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart.
